In recent developments, X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, has raised the prices for its X Premium+ subscription, the most comprehensive tier offered to its users. This increase has been implemented in the United States, coming shortly after the launch of the Grok 3 family of artificial intelligence models by Elon Musk’s xAI. Customers will now face costs that are nearly double the previous subscription fee. Notably, only the Premium+ tier has seen a price adjustment, while the Basic and Premium tiers remain unchanged.

Revised Pricing for X Premium+ Subscription

A report from TechCrunch indicates that the monthly fee for the Premium+ subscription has risen to nearly $50 (approximately Rs. 4,350), up from the former rate of $22 (around Rs. 1,900). The annual pricing is also set to increase to $350 (around Rs. 30,400).

The report highlights that the updated prices were displayed on the platform’s support page, although inconsistencies were noted during verification. TechCrunch’s testing showed monthly offers of $39.83 (about Rs. 3,460) or $477.95 (approximately Rs. 41,560) for annual subscriptions. However, on the final checkout page, the charge indicated was $395 (approximately Rs. 34,350). In a different check by staff from Gadgets 360, the support page still listed the X Premium+ subscription at its prior rate of $22 per month.

If this pricing change is confirmed, it would represent the second increase for the Premium+ subscription in just three months. The previous hike occurred in December 2024 when the monthly rate moved from $16 (around Rs. 1,400) to $22. This adjustment was also mirrored in India, where monthly fees rose from Rs. 1,300 to Rs. 1,525 and the annual cost increased from Rs. 13,600 to Rs. 18,300.

The company may be conducting A/B testing to evaluate consumer response to the new pricing structure. However, as of now, prices in India remain at their previously adjusted rates from December.

Interestingly, this price change follows the release of the Grok 3 AI models, which feature advancements including chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning, DeepSearch capabilities, and a voice mode.
