Last week, Zoom announced the launch of several enterprise-focused features that enhance its suite of agentic tools. Based in San Jose, the communications technology firm is rolling out multiple AI agents within the Zoom Workplace, which includes offerings like the Custom AI Companion, Zoom Tasks, and a variety of other enhancements. This update comes a month after Zoom introduced its agentic strategy and outlined the roadmap for upcoming features set to be released in the following months.

Zoom Unveils New Agentic Tools for Enterprises

In an official press release, Zoom detailed the debut of agentic features such as the Custom AI Companion, Voice Recorder, and Zoom Tasks, alongside new functionalities for existing services like Zoom Meetings, Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Whiteboard, and Zoom Revenue Accelerator.

One of the spotlight features, Zoom Tasks, enhances the AI Companion’s capabilities by enabling it to identify, manage, and execute tasks across the Zoom Workplace. This tool can generate tasks automatically from Zoom Team Chat, Mail, or Docs and transform them into actionable items that can either be completed by users or delegated to the AI Companion.

This feature also delivers insights and suggestions for next steps while utilizing a centralized task management tab to help teams monitor their activities. Zoom Tasks is now part of the Zoom Workplace plans, whereas the AI Companion features are exclusively available to paid subscribers.

Features and Pricing for Custom AI Companion

The Custom AI Companion is now available for enterprise users. This AI agent, powered by Zoom AI Studio, is a tailored iteration of the AI Companion that can integrate with third-party AI agents for a range of tasks. As stated by the company, the agent will support Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Google’s Agent to Agent Protocol, allowing smooth connections to external tools.

Furthermore, the Custom AI Companion includes a feature dubbed “Bring Your Own Index (BYOI),” permitting connections to enterprise data. Zoom has indicated that the tool can link with various data sources, including project management systems, cloud storage, email services, and customer information databases.

This companion will also feature Custom Avatars for Zoom Clips, enabling users to create AI-generated clips featuring avatars that resemble them, speaking out scripts they provide. These clips could serve purposes such as employee orientation or project briefings. To prevent misuse, Zoom is implementing various safeguards against the creation of inappropriate or harmful content.

At present, Custom Avatars are included as part of the Custom AI Companion add-on, with plans to offer it as a standalone product in May. The pricing for the Custom AI Companion add-on is set at $12 (approximately Rs. 1,020) per user each month.

Additional Noteworthy Features

Among the new features is a Voice Recorder tool integrated into the AI Companion, designed to transcribe, summarize, and capture actionable items from Zoom Meetings or Zoom Phone calls, thereby eliminating the necessity for manual note-taking. This feature is set to be released later this month on mobile devices, with an expansion to Rooms anticipated later this year.

Zoom Team Chat is also enhancing its multilingual capabilities using a native small language model (SLM) that provides better translation support for eight languages, including German, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Portuguese-Brazilian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese (to English).

Another notable enhancement allows participants to mention individuals not in a chat or channel while sharing their contact information without the need to add them. The AI Companion can also schedule meetings with multiple participants by finding optimal times based on data across the platform, subsequently suggesting scheduling options that users can accept or modify.

Once meetings are scheduled, the AI Companion will facilitate the creation of a Zoom meeting, add it to participants’ calendars, and generate suggested topics and agendas. Users will also have the ability to create private group chats during meetings, either with specific attendees or tailored subsets, along with the option to name these groups.

Moreover, agentic features are being integrated into the Zoom Revenue Accelerator. The AI can operate based on admin-configured sales methodologies, allowing admins to deploy customized frameworks tailored to ensure a repeatable strategy that aligns with organizational practices. Zoom claims that this new feature employs large language models (LLMs) to analyze sales conversations, extracting key insights related to customer engagement.

Lastly, a deal explorer feature within the Zoom Revenue Accelerator will enable users to extract sales insights through natural language prompts. This tool can analyze data throughout the customer’s opportunity cycle and present relevant information. For instance, sales professionals can pose questions such as “What are the next steps for this opportunity?” or “Has pricing been discussed?” and receive context-specific responses from the AI.
