Earlier this year, Xiaomi unveiled the HyperOS 2, built on Android 15, alongside the launch of its Xiaomi 15 series. Now, whispers of a new version, HyperOS 3, are beginning to circulate. According to a reliable source, the anticipated operating system is expected to debut in the third quarter of 2025, coinciding with the launch of the Xiaomi 16 smartphone. This timeline aligns with Google’s rumored rollout of Android 16 which is speculated to begin next month.
Xiaomi HyperOS 3 Release Timeline
The tipster known as Digital Chat Station shared insights regarding the release timeline of HyperOS 3 in a post on Weibo, a popular Chinese microblogging site. This upcoming OS is believed to be based on Android 16 and is projected to be released in Q3 2025. Moreover, it is not the only operating system upgrade expected during this timeframe.
Alongside HyperOS 3, updates from other manufacturers are also anticipated, including Oppo’s ColorOS 16, Vivo’s OriginOS 6, and Honor’s MagicOS 10 firmware.
Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 is likely to have a launch window that corresponds with the Xiaomi 16 and could be pre-installed on the smartphone. An unveiling in China is expected in either September or October, mirroring the release schedule of its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15, which was launched in October.
In the meantime, Xiaomi is reportedly in the process of rolling out the stable HyperOS 2.2 update to a range of devices in its lineup. This update aims to enhance system fluidity and user responsiveness, along with improvements to battery optimization techniques. Notable features include a revamped notification management system and new artificial intelligence capabilities focused on productivity and photography. The update is said to include enhancements to the Camera Interface 6.0 and improved cross-device integration for Xiaomi products.
The HyperOS 2.2 update is expected to cover a variety of devices, which include the Xiaomi 15 series, Xiaomi 14 series, Redmi K70 series, Poco X7 series, and the Poco F7 lineup.
