Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, saw a significant restoration for most users following a widespread outage that affected tens of thousands of individuals across the United States on Saturday. This information was confirmed by outage tracking site Downdetector.com. In light of the incident, Musk mentioned in a post that he is “back to spending 24/7” at his companies.

At the peak of the outage around 8:51 a.m. ET (1251 GMT), over 25,800 users reported issues with the platform. Downdetector compiles outage data from numerous sources, including user reports. By 12:09 p.m. ET, the number of reported outages had dropped to under 650.

In a post on X, Musk stated, “Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms. I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out.”

The disruption also affected numerous users outside the United States, with individuals in Germany, Spain, France, India, Canada, Australia, and Britain reporting similar issues during the outage, according to Downdetector.

A request for comment from X regarding the outage went unanswered by Reuters.

Recently, Musk, who previously invested nearly $300 million to support former US President Donald Trump and other Republican candidates, announced a significant reduction in his political spending. This move suggests a pivot back to his business commitments amid increasing anxiety from investors.

He previously led the Department of Government Efficiency, an initiative aimed at cutting jobs and slashing contracts and grants by billions.

However, his political stances have sparked protests against Tesla in both the US and Europe, contributing to a decline in sales and marking the first annual drop in deliveries for the automaker last year.

Musk’s involvement with Tesla has raised concerns among investors, prompting him to reassure stakeholders last month that he plans to limit his time with DOGE to just a day or two each week starting in May.
