WhatsApp is set to introduce a new color for verification check marks on Android devices. A notable feature tracker recently uncovered this change in a beta version of the app, suggesting a widespread rollout for all users in the near future. The updated check marks will align visually with those found on Instagram and Facebook, both popular platforms under Meta’s umbrella.
According to a report from WABetaInfo, users testing the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android will soon notice the introduction of a blue check mark.
This modification aims to streamline the user experience across Meta’s applications, allowing users who are already accustomed to Facebook and Instagram to more easily determine the authenticity of the entities they interact with.
While the new verification tick is currently available to beta testers on Android, a similar update for iOS users may follow in the coming days or weeks. Ultimately, the change is expected to reach all platforms, including WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop.
In addition to the verification update, Meta is reportedly exploring artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to enhance WhatsApp’s messaging features. The proposed Meta AI chatbot is designed to assist users in editing text and generating responses to images.
The platform is also experimenting with a video note function for the WhatsApp camera, alongside an ‘Imagine Me’ feature that allows users to create custom images using Meta AI.
