WhatsApp appears to be testing a new feature that would add a dedicated video note mode within its camera interface on both Android and iOS devices. This functionality may enable users to record and share video notes directly from the camera, according to a feature tracker.

Video Note Mode on WhatsApp

As reported by WABetaInfo, a dedicated mode for video notes could be integrated into the camera interface next to the existing Video and Photo options. This feature was identified in a beta version of the app available on both operating systems.

For Android users, the relevant app version is purportedly 2.24.14.14, accessible through the Google Play Beta program. Meanwhile, iOS users can find this feature in version 24.13.10.76 of WhatsApp, which is available via the TestFlight Program.

Back in 2023, WhatsApp launched Instant Video Notes, allowing users to record and send video messages of up to 60 seconds in chat. The platform has also begun testing a new shortcut button for more efficient replies to video notes. The addition of a dedicated video notes option in the camera interface may enhance the user experience by streamlining the sharing process.

However, staff members from Gadgets 360 were unable to confirm the functionality of this feature in the beta version for Android. This update offers an alternative method for sending video notes, aside from the current practice of long-pressing the camera icon in individual chats.

Imagine Me on WhatsApp

In another development, WhatsApp has recently introduced Meta AI, its artificial intelligence chatbot, in India. Reports suggest the platform is working on an AI feature called ‘Imagine Me’ that would allow users to create images of themselves based on prompts. It is expected that this feature will encourage users to upload several reference selfies during the initial setup.

The ‘Imagine Me’ feature was discovered in the beta version of WhatsApp for the Android 2.24.14.13 update.
