WhatsApp is reportedly in the process of developing a new message menu for its Android app, bringing a fresh design that resembles the context menu used on iOS. Users can expect to see five options emerge when they long-press a message, enhancing usability and streamlining actions. This feature was noted in the recent WhatsApp beta update, version 2.23.11.4, indicating ongoing enhancements to the app’s interface.

A report by WABetaInfo, a source that tracks WhatsApp developments, outlines the forthcoming changes to the messaging platform. This redesigned message menu will simplify the process of selecting actions for messages, displaying options such as Delete, Forward, Reply, Keep, and Info beneath the selected message.

Currently, the app presents a total of six options—Delete, Forward, Reply, Star, Info, and Copy—at the top of the chat window when a message is selected. In addition, users can react to messages with emoji. The redesigned menu was identified in the beta version mentioned earlier.

At this point, WhatsApp has not disclosed any timeline for when this update will reach beta testers. Like other features still in development, it could either be included in future beta releases or not released at all.

In a related update, the messaging application has also been seen implementing an iOS-like interface enhancement. This includes a revamped bottom navigation bar tailored for Android users, aiming to create a more seamless transition for those switching between Android and iOS devices. The proposed design is expected to facilitate easy access to chats, calls, communities, and status updates, which could prove beneficial for users of larger smartphones when navigating with one hand.

Recently, OnePlus introduced its first tablet in India, known as the OnePlus Pad, which is available solely in a Halo Green color. By entering this market, OnePlus is positioning itself in a space primarily dominated by Apple’s iPad. More insights into this release are available on the Gadgets 360 podcast, Orbital, accessible on multiple platforms including Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and other podcast services.
