WhatsApp has launched an enhanced feature enabling users to share longer voice messages as status updates. This functionality is now accessible on both iPhone and Android devices, with many users already seeing the update on their applications. The Meta-owned messaging service has been actively testing various new features, including AI-generated profile pictures and tools for managing unread message counts, all aimed at enhancing user interaction with the app.
Extended Voice Status Updates on WhatsApp
Previously, users could only share voice notes lasting up to 30 seconds as status updates. This process involved going to the status update section and holding down the microphone icon. With the new update, WhatsApp has increased this limit to one minute, allowing for more comprehensive voice messages to be shared as status updates.
The feature’s availability has been confirmed, and users can now record one-minute voice notes to set as their status updates on both Android and iOS platforms. This change is likely to benefit those who previously found themselves splitting longer messages to fit the status update limitation.
WhatsApp typically implements updates gradually, so users who have not yet received this feature should ensure they have the latest version of the app. It may take a few days for the new functionality to appear on all devices.
Additional Upcoming WhatsApp Features
As per reports from WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the company is in the process of developing several new features. One prominent addition is the Create with AI option, which will allow users to generate personal AI-generated profile pictures tailored to their interests, personalities, and moods.
Moreover, another upcoming feature under development is the introduction of chat themes. Reports suggest that WhatsApp might soon provide users with the ability to select from five predefined themes: blue, green (which is currently the default), grey, red, and purple. This selection could potentially modify the color scheme of chats as well as their backgrounds through a newly designed theme picker.
