Vivo began deploying the Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 in India last year. Following several months after its initial launch, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer unveiled enhanced features utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). Among these additions are a range of productivity and communication-centric tools, including Live Text, Circle to Search, and AI Screen Translation. Notably, the update introduces an AI Call Translation feature designed to facilitate real-time translation during phone conversations, as well as an AI Live Text capability that allows users to extract text from images.
AI-Driven Features in FunTouch OS 15
Vivo provided insights into the advanced AI functionalities within the latest version of Funtouch OS 15. The AI Erase feature is a detailed tool enabling users to eliminate distractions, unwanted objects, or even people from images with a simple tap or swipe. Additionally, the AI Live Cutout feature allows users to effortlessly isolate a subject in photos or videos by long-pressing, automatically recognizing and separating the subject from its background.
The updates to Funtouch OS 15 also enhance the Recorder app, introducing capabilities such as AI Transcript Assist, which transforms voice recordings into accurate text summaries. Another noteworthy feature is the AI Screen Translation, permitting real-time translations without the need to switch between applications.
The AI Call Translation tool further enriches the user experience by enabling immediate translation of spoken language during phone calls among individuals who speak different languages. Moreover, the AI Photo Enhance feature permits users to adjust their images by sharpening facial details, brightening overall compositions, and rejuvenating expressions.
Vivo has integrated Google’s AI-powered Circle to Search feature into Funtouch OS 15. This tool enables users to conduct quick searches without exiting their current application or activity by circling text, images, or objects, thus activating an instantaneous, context-sensitive search. Additionally, the AI Live Text tool can promptly recognize and extract text from images.
The AI Note Assist feature found in Funtouch OS 15 empowers users to efficiently create well-organized professional notes with functionalities such as Smart layout, Summarize, Extract to-dos, and Translate content. These innovative AI features are confirmed to be accessible on select devices, although their availability may differ based on the specific handset and region, according to Vivo.
