Vivo has released a teaser for its forthcoming foldable device, the Vivo X Fold 5. A company executive shared a video on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, indicating that the launch of this new foldable smartphone is on the horizon. The teaser highlights that the Vivo X Fold 5 will have a lighter design compared to last year’s X Fold 3, and it is expected to include a robust 6,000mAh battery and an impressive 8.03-inch internal display. Additionally, the device is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
Vivo X Fold 5: A New Benchmark in Compact Design
Han Bo Xiao, Vivo’s Product Manager, provided a glimpse of the Vivo X Fold 5 in a recent Weibo post. The 16-second teaser video emphasizes the device’s lightweight construction, confirming that it will weigh less than the Vivo X Fold 3, which is recorded at 219 grams. Furthermore, the video suggests the Vivo X Fold 5 aims to establish new standards for both thinness and lightness in the foldable smartphone market.
While the teaser does not specify the exact weight of the phone, early leaks indicate that the Vivo X Fold 5 could have a weight of approximately 209 grams. It is reported to measure 4.3mm when opened and 9.33mm when closed. For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 weighs 239 grams and has measurements of 12.2mm when folded and 5.6mm when unfolded. In contrast, the Oppo Find N5 weighs 229 grams, with a 8.93mm thickness while folded and 4.21mm while unfolded.
Expected Specifications of the Vivo X Fold 5
According to rumors, the Vivo X Fold 5 will feature an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED display along with a 6.53-inch LTPO OLED cover screen. It is expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, complemented by 16GB of RAM and a storage option of 512GB. The device is likely to sport a triple rear camera setup, featuring three 50-megapixel sensors.
For photography enthusiasts, the Vivo X Fold 5 is anticipated to include dual 32-megapixel sensors situated on both the inner and outer displays for selfies and video calls. It might also incorporate a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a three-stage Alert Slider for enhanced functionality.
Powering the Vivo X Fold 5 will be a substantial 6,000mAh battery, supporting 90W wired and 30W wireless charging capabilities. It is projected to have a more affordable price point compared to the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, which was launched at CNY 9,999 (approximately Rs. 1,16,000) for the version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
