Ubisoft has pushed back the release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will now debut in February 2025 instead of the previously scheduled November 15. Along with this delay, the company announced the cancellation of the game’s Season Pass and early access features. In light of these updates, Ubisoft has decided to lower the price of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Collector’s Edition.
Collector’s Edition Price Adjustment
Initially announced in May, Assassin’s Creed Shadows comes in several editions, including Standard, Gold, Ultimate, and Collector’s. The Collector’s Edition was originally tagged at $279.99 and includes various physical items such as a steelbook case, a world map, figurines of Naoe and Yasuke, a life-size tsuba for Naoe’s katana, a Wall Creed Scroll, an 84-page artbook, and two sumi-e lithographs.
During a Q&A session on Discord (reported by IGN), Ubisoft announced a $50 reduction for the Collector’s Edition, bringing the new price to $229.99. This price change comes after the cancellation of the early access and Season Pass, which were included with the edition, prompting the adjustment in value.
While the contents of the Collector’s Edition will remain unchanged from the original announcement, some of the design elements for physical items may be altered, according to Ubisoft.
Delay Announcement for Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Despite being declared “feature complete,” Assassin’s Creed Shadows saw a delay last month. Ubisoft stated this decision was made to allow developers additional time to refine the game further. “This will enable the biggest entry in the franchise to fully deliver on its ambition, notably fulfilling the promise of our dual protagonist adventure, with Naoe and Yasuke offering two distinct gameplay experiences,” the company elaborated.
The French video game developer also revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on Steam simultaneously with its release. All pre-orders will be refunded, and future pre-orders will include the first expansion at no additional cost.
This delay follows the lukewarm reception of Star Wars Outlaws, where Ubisoft reported that its commercial performance was “softer than expected.” The weaker sales of Outlaws influenced the decision to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows, leading Ubisoft to revise its financial projections for fiscal year 2024-25.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now scheduled for release on February 14, 2025, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
