A.J. Brown, the head of brand safety and ad quality at Twitter, has announced his departure from the company, as reported by a source familiar with the situation on Friday. This marks the second significant exit from the safety division in just a few days.

This latest departure presents an increasing challenge for Linda Yaccarino, who is set to take over as Twitter’s CEO.

The day prior, Ella Irwin resigned from her position as vice president of product for trust and safety. In that capacity, she managed the company’s content moderation efforts and frequently handled inquiries from users regarding suspended accounts.

During his tenure, Brown focused on ensuring that advertisements did not appear alongside inappropriate content.

Reports from Platformer and the Wall Street Journal have previously confirmed Brown’s exit.

Since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in October, the platform has faced difficulties in maintaining its advertising partnerships. Advertisers have expressed concerns over ad placements, especially following layoffs that affected thousands of employees.

Musk’s decision to bring Yaccarino on board, who previously led advertising efforts at Comcast’s NBCUniversal, underscored the priority placed on ad sales, even as Twitter seeks to expand its subscription revenue.

Neither Twitter nor Brown has responded to requests for comment from Reuters.
