Toshiba has introduced the Aurex AX-RP10, a new record player targeting vinyl fans who seek to enhance their music experience on the go. Although it isn’t as compact as devices like Sony’s Walkman or Apple’s iPod, it is portable enough to fit into the accompanying shoulder bag, accommodating 12-inch records and enabling complete wireless usage through a built-in battery charged via USB-C.

The design of the AX-RP10 takes a nod from the classic Audio-Technica Sound Burger, which was revived in 2022, although the new model is slightly larger. It is suitable for outings such as beach trips or picnics while also serving the needs of vinyl collectors looking to streamline their home setups. At this point, pricing details remain under wraps, with an anticipated release date set for April 2025.

Similar to the Sound Burger, the AX-RP10 features a built-in 2,000mAh battery that Toshiba claims can provide approximately 10 hours of playback time. It supports both 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records and utilizes MM type cartridges. While the turntable lacks built-in speakers, it does come with a stereo mini audio jack for connecting wired headphones or plugging into an external audio system.

For those preferring a completely wireless experience and willing to compromise on audio quality, the AX-RP10 offers Bluetooth connectivity, enabling it to pair with wireless headphones and speakers. This feature, however, may not cater to audiophiles who prioritize high-fidelity sound.
