Timekettle has launched an innovative set of real-time translation earbuds, named the W4 AI Interpreter Earbuds. These headphones utilize bone conduction technology to enhance clarity in noisy environments.
Priced at $349, the W4 AI earbuds are available in navy blue and sandy gold options. This model offers a more budget-friendly choice compared to the earlier released $449 W4 Pro over-the-ear headphones, which have a bulkier design reminiscent of older Bluetooth headsets. Timekettle aims to provide a more contemporary and casual alternative with the W4 AI, featuring a sleek design that resembles modern wireless earbuds, albeit with a noticeably larger stem.
The larger size of the W4 AI as compared to other compact earbuds, like Apple’s AirPods, is attributed to the inclusion of extra electronics necessary for running Timekettle’s Babel OS 2.0, an AI-driven real-time translation software. The company claims that this advanced system can “instantly convert speech between 42 languages and 95 accents” with a high accuracy rate of up to 98 percent, enhanced by its contextual understanding capabilities. Users can even personalize a custom lexicon for the W4 AI to avoid confusion during specific conversations, such as those relating to niche topics like skibidi toilets.
To enhance translation performance, the W4 AI introduces a novel feature not found in earlier Timekettle models. These earbuds combine a traditional microphone with a bone conduction sensor that detects voice vibrations directly from the skull, leading to improved speech recognition accuracy in noisy settings. This technology allows users to speak more softly, which may make conversations in public spaces more discreet.
The earbuds boast a battery life of up to four hours of uninterrupted translation, extendable to ten hours with the accompanying charging case that splits to accommodate an earbud on either side. When used solely for music playback, the W4 AI can last up to eight hours, with a total of 18 hours possible when used in conjunction with the charging case.
