Meta Platforms has announced new enhancements to its microblogging app, Threads, designed to improve search functionality. The update will enable users to utilize additional filters in the search bar, specifically for date ranges and profiles. This feature follows a recent introduction of an option allowing users to set a custom feed as their default choice, alongside the previously available options.
The official Threads account shared details of the new search options in a post on the platform. Currently, users can filter search results by selecting either Top or Recent posts. With the upcoming update, users tapping the search bar will see a “refine” option on the right, featuring three new filters: After date, Before date, and From profile.
Threads aims to enhance the user experience by making it easier to locate specific posts within the app. However, staff members at Gadgets 360 could not ascertain whether the feature is yet available on Threads for iOS or Android devices. The rollout is expected to occur globally over the next few weeks, with users gaining access as it becomes available.
Last week, Adam Mosseri, the head of the platform, announced that Threads is testing various “long-overdue improvements.” These include the newly introduced search filters and a trending now page, which is currently limited to users in the United States. This page will feature expanded trending topics and AI-generated summaries of ongoing discussions.
This update complements the earlier testing of the custom feeds feature. CEO Mark Zuckerberg indicated that users would have the ability to toggle between the For You, Following, and custom feeds. The custom feed will be tailored according to users’ preferences or specified filters, and the default feed option will be more prominently displayed in the app’s user interface.
