Nacon has announced that the open-world sci-fi survival game, Terminator: Survivors, will be delayed until 2025. Initially, the game was scheduled for early access on Steam on October 24, 2024, but this date has now been pushed back to a yet-to-be-determined time next year. The delay aims to give the development team at Nacon Studio Milan the necessary time to deliver a game that aligns with player expectations.

Nacon indicated that the extra time is crucial for creating a post-apocalyptic environment that reflects the esteemed Terminator franchise. Marco Ponte, CEO and creative director of Nacon Studio Milan, emphasized the difficulty in making this decision but expressed confidence that it would enhance the game’s overall quality. “This deferral of the game’s release was a tough decision to make; however, we believe that this additional time will enable us to ensure that our vision of the post-apocalyptic world of Terminator meets the expected level of quality,” he stated in a press release.
Ponte also extended gratitude to fans, saying, “On behalf of the NACON Studio Milan team, I would like to thank all the players and fans of the franchise for their enthusiastic reception of Terminator: Survivors. We are extremely proud to have this opportunity to work on such an iconic franchise as Terminator, and are eager to reveal more of it to you. Thank you all for support… We’ll be back.”
The Terminator: Survivors official account on X reiterated the sentiment, describing the delay as “the right call” for the future of the game.
The game was initially slated for early access on PC via Steam on October 24, with plans for a later release on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. First teased in 2022, it was fully revealed, along with its official title and release date, earlier this year.
Set within the expansive Terminator universe, created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd in 1984, Terminator: Survivors offers an original narrative located after the events of the first two films. Players will take on the role of survivors of Judgment Day, with the option to engage in solo or cooperative gameplay. The new timeline promises a 2025 release for PC.
