Tencent has revealed a new open-world action-adventure game that appears to combine elements from Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series on PlayStation and Pocketpair’s contentious survival title, Palworld. Titled Light of Motiram and developed by Tencent’s subsidiary, Polaris Quest, the game features a world rich in mechanical creatures referred to as “Mechanimals,” reminiscent of those found in the Horizon franchise. Set against a backdrop of a post-apocalyptic wilderness packed with mechanical beasts, Light of Motiram also incorporates survival and crafting features similar to those seen in Palworld.

The game’s synopsis on Steam highlights a world where “Earth and human civilization as we once knew it are gone.” Players will traverse a variety of landscapes—from lush tropical rainforests to stark desert expanses and snow-clad mountains—encountering unique Mechanimals and ancient ruins, gradually piecing together the lore of Motiram.

According to Polaris Quest, the game will feature over 100 customizable Mechanimals for players to train and tame. The official website showcases three initial mechanical animals resembling a gorilla, a deer, and a bison, while the teaser trailer hints at even larger constructs like a giant sea serpent, massive scorpions, and a formidable grasshopper.

Combat within the game encompasses both melee and ranged options, with players reportedly wielding a hefty hammer. The developers emphasize the importance of dodging, blocking, and counterattacking, suggesting that players should coordinate with Mechanimal allies. “Choosing the right companion can make your combat twice as effective,” the game’s description states.

In addition to these Horizon-like elements, Light of Motiram incorporates survival and crafting mechanics reminiscent of Palworld, a title currently facing legal challenges from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company over alleged plagiarized creature designs. Featuring a physics-based building system, players will be able to construct intricate structures while also needing to gather resources for survival.

The game will support up to 10-player co-op and cross-play capabilities, according to the developer. Although no official release date has been announced, Light of Motiram’s pages are live on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, where players can wishlist the title. Reports suggest that the game will also be released on PlayStation and mobile devices in the future.
