On Thursday, Telegram unveiled a range of new features aimed at enhancing user experience on its instant messaging platform. Among the key developments is an upgraded artificial intelligence (AI) sticker search function, which now allows users to explore custom stickers created by the community. The update also introduces several video-related improvements, including the ability to copy and share video links with specific time stamps.
Telegram Introduces New Features
This marks Telegram’s third significant update of the year, with the latest enhancements outlined in a blog post by the company. A notable addition is the expanded AI-powered sticker search feature, which was initially launched in December 2024. This functionality allows users to search for stickers using natural language descriptions, utilizing an AI model to accurately interpret user prompts and match them with relevant stickers.
Previously limited to Telegram’s official sticker packs, the AI sticker search now encompasses millions of user-generated custom stickers. The feature supports 29 languages, including English, Spanish, Arabic, and Hindi.
Another exciting enhancement is the introduction of video time-stamps. Users can now copy and share specific video segments, enabling them to direct others to particular moments in a clip. When recipients access the link, the video will automatically begin playing from the specified timestamp.
Also new for Telegram channel owners is the option to select a cover photo for videos shared within their channels. This feature parallels the app’s Stories function, allowing users to choose a frame from the video to serve as its cover photo. Additionally, users have the capability to customize this cover with text, stickers, and emojis using the app’s video editing tools.
The platform also now supports saved progress for videos, meaning viewers can stop watching and resume exactly where they left off. This feature is particularly beneficial for those engaging with long-form content, as it eliminates the need to scroll through videos to find a specific point for continuation.
In addition to these video enhancements, Telegram is expanding its Star reaction feature, enabling users to react to posts in channels utilizing their channel identity. This improvement aims to increase the visibility of content creators. Lastly, users can now explore similar bots directly from bot profiles, further improving the overall user experience on the platform.
