Telegram has rolled out a significant update that introduces a variety of enhanced features for its users. While many of these new capabilities are reserved for Telegram Premium subscribers, they mark a notable evolution in how users can interact on the platform. Key features include an improved reply functionality, allowing for more tailored engagement in conversations. Users can now format quotes and personalize link previews, adding greater flexibility in communication. Additionally, Telegram stories benefit from minor enhancements with this latest release, and select users gain the ability to customize account colors, particularly those operating channels of a certain size. Earlier updates have already added reaction stickers and dual camera modes, indicating Telegram’s continued commitment to innovation. The company has also announced plans for future updates.
In a recent blog post, Telegram detailed how the new update enhances the quoting and replying process. Users can now quote specific segments of messages to refine their responses. By tapping or holding a message on iOS, users can drag to select the desired text and press Quote.
The update also allows for cross-chat replies. Users can respond to messages in different conversations, whether in direct messages or other group chats. To execute this, they simply select a message, choose Reply in Another Chat, and select the relevant chat. Recipients with access can click the reply to view the original message in its context.
Users can now format their quoted text as well, including options for bold, italic, and other styles, making it easy to highlight certain aspects of their replies. Additionally, multiple quotes can be included in a single response.
When sharing links, Telegram now enables users to customize their link previews. They can adjust the thumbnail size, determine the placement of the preview above or below their message, and specify which link to preview when multiple links are attached. Viewers can interact with the links directly from the preview section.
In the realm of Telegram Stories, users can fast-forward or rewind video stories by holding down on the screen and sliding in the desired direction. A new front flash feature, which allows for adjustments in warmth and intensity, has also been added for photos and videos captured in the Story segment.
Moreover, Telegram Premium subscribers can now choose custom colors for their accounts. This feature is also available for channels rated level 5 or above, enabling users to have their names in groups, the color of shared links, and replies appear in their chosen colors. Android users can locate this option under Settings > Chat Settings > Change Name Colour, while iOS users will find it under Settings > Appearance > Your Name Colour.
