Telegram recently rolled out an update that enhances its video capabilities and chat functionalities on the messaging platform. This latest version introduces adjustable video speed controls, improvements in video quality, and quicker loading times based on users’ network conditions. Additionally, users can now append media files while editing previously sent messages and will be able to see when messages were last modified.
Video Playback Enhancements in the Latest Update
Following the recent update, Telegram announced that users can speed up video playback by pressing and holding the right side of the video while sliding it to the right, increasing the playback speed up to 2.5 times. This upgrade streamlines access to the video speed controls, and Android users can tap on the left or right side of the screen to rewind or fast forward the video by 10 seconds, respectively.

Channel administrators will appreciate the update, which optimizes video playback on uploaded content. The platform now automatically adjusts video quality to match the user’s connection speed, offering options for low, medium, and high quality after compressing higher resolution videos. iOS users can also engage picture-in-picture (PiP) mode by swiping up on a video.
Enhanced Message Editing Capabilities and New Hashtag Features
Telegram has improved its message editing functionality, allowing users to attach media when revising a text message. This enhancement enables users to select a message and add an image, replacing the original text with the new media. Furthermore, edits to messages will now display a timestamp indicating when the last edit occurred, and once a message is modified again, the app will track the latest edit time.
In addition, small groups now have read receipts, showing when members have read messages. This feature mirrors similar functionalities offered by competitor platforms like WhatsApp.

Telegram has also introduced chat-specific hashtags, aimed at facilitating easier message searches within specific groups or channels. Following the #hashtag@username
format, users searching for a tag like #travel@adventures will uncover all messages associated with that tag in the Adventures channel, simplifying the process of locating relevant posts.
Enhanced Bot Functionality and Revenue Opportunities
Telegram’s bot system, which has significantly contributed to its popularity, has seen improvements as well. The platform now enables bots to send up to 30 messages per second, with the potential to expand this limit to 1,000 messages per second for bot operators using Telegram Stars, its digital currency.
Moreover, bots can now generate revenue through Telegram Ads, allowing channel owners to monetize their content. The platform shares 50% of the ad revenue with content creators, and bot developers can now tap into this revenue-sharing model through the newly implemented ad service.
