Earlier this year, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Tecno introduced its new Camon 40 smartphone series. The range comprises the Camon 40, Camon 40 Pro, Pro 5G, and Premier 5G models, all featuring a unique One-Tap Button. These devices ship with Android 15 and are layered with HiOS 15. The company has announced plans for OS updates, ensuring that users will receive upgrades up to Android 18, along with security patches for as long as five years.
Updates and Security for Tecno Camon 40 Series
Tecno revealed through a post on X that the Camon 40 series will receive three years of Android OS upgrades leading up to Android 18. Currently, all models in the series are equipped with the Android 15-based HiOS 15. In addition to the OS upgrades, Tecno confirmed that these smartphones will receive five years of over-the-air (OTA) security updates.
Key Features of the Tecno Camon 40 Series
The handsets in the Tecno Camon 40 series boast a One-Tap Button, giving users quick access to the Ella personal assistant and enabling the FlashSnap mode. A suite of AI features is included, such as Google’s Circle to Search, AI Eraser 2.0, AIGC Portrait 2.0, AI Perfect Face, AI Sharpness Plus, AI Image Extender, Universal Tone, AI Writing, AI Translate, Call Translation, and Call Summary.
The Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro are outfitted with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that supports a refresh rate of 120Hz, while the Pro 5G and Premier 5G variants can achieve a 144Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the Premier model features a slightly smaller 6.67-inch AMOLED screen.
In terms of photography, both the vanilla and Pro editions include a 50-megapixel primary rear camera accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The Pro models also feature 50-megapixel selfie cameras, with the standard Camon 40 sporting a 32-megapixel front-facing sensor. The high-end Premier 5G version is designed with three 50-megapixel rear cameras, inclusive of telephoto and ultrawide functionalities, alongside a 50-megapixel selfie shooter.
Regarding durability, the Tecno Camon 40 offers IP66-rated resistance to dust and water, while the Premier and Pro models claim IP68 and IP69 ratings against dust and water ingress. The base Camon 40 and Pro 4G variants are powered by MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate SoCs. In comparison, the Pro 5G and Premier 5G models are equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate and MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipsets, respectively. Both the standard and Pro variants are powered by a 5,200mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging, while the Premier variant features a 5,100mAh battery with 70W charging capabilities.
