TCL has showcased its newest Nxtpaper 4.0 display technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2025), building upon the original Nxtpaper technology introduced in 2021. The enhanced features of Nxtpaper 4.0 are designed to minimize eye strain and improve overall visual comfort. The inaugural device equipped with this technology will be the TCL Nxtpaper 11 Plus tablet, which is also being touted as the company’s first AI-enhanced tablet, including functionalities such as Text Assist and Smart Translator.
TCL Nxtpaper 4.0 Technology
According to a press release from TCL, the Nxtpaper 4.0 employs Circularly Polarised Light (CPL) alongside blue light purification methods to replicate natural light, which is expected to alleviate eye fatigue when compared to traditional screens. The technology incorporates a “nano-matrix lithography in its etching process,” enhancing image clarity for sharper text and detailed visuals.
The new display technology boasts a Delta E of 1 for color precision and achieves 100 percent sRGB color gamut coverage. It has also received quality certifications from TÜV, SGS, and Eyesafe.
TCL Nxtpaper 11 Plus Features
The TCL Nxtpaper 11 Plus tablet will be the first product to utilize the Nxtpaper 4.0 display. Featuring an 11.5-inch screen with a 2.2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, the tablet promises a brightness of up to 550 nits when used in direct sunlight. It will offer Smart Eye Comfort Mode as well as a Personalised Eye Comfort Mode, and will be compatible with the T-Pen Stylus for precise control.
The updated Nxtpaper Key on the TCL Nxtpaper 11 Plus will provide direct access to the Nxtpaper user interface, functioning as a customizable shortcut through gestures including single, double, and long presses. In addition to its AI functionalities, the tablet will support Google’s Circle to Search and include features like Text Assist for rewriting content, translation, and summarization. Another tool, Writing Assist, will aid in planning events and composing emails, while Smart Voice Memo and Smart Translator tools will facilitate recording, transcribing, and translating tasks.
TCL has indicated that further details regarding the availability and pricing of the Nxtpaper 11 Plus and other devices featuring Nxtpaper 4.0 technology will be announced in due course.
