Sony is set to hold a State of Play presentation, confirming earlier speculation, where it will showcase updates on more than 20 games. The event, scheduled for Tuesday, September 24, will highlight upcoming titles for the PS5 and PS VR2 platforms. This announcement follows reports indicating that the PlayStation parent company was preparing for a State of Play broadcast in September.

Upcoming State of Play Details

The broadcast will kick off at 3pm PT / 6pm ET on Tuesday, which translates to 3:30am IST on September 25 in India. Sony has stated that the showcase will run for over 30 minutes but did not disclose specifics regarding the featured content.

Predictions for the Presentation

Viewers can anticipate new trailers and updates for both first and third-party games that have already been announced. There is also potential for the revelation of a significant release from Sony’s first-party studios. Recently, the output from these studios has been low-key, with teams like Santa Monica and Naughty Dog reportedly working on projects that have yet to be unveiled. Additionally, Sucker Punch has not shared recent updates, leading many to speculate about the development of a highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima.

Insomniac Games, known for its prolific output, is currently developing Wolverine, which was initially teased during a PlayStation Showcase in 2021. Following the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in 2023, the studio has not issued any new information about this superhero title. It’s possible that State of Play will include a new trailer for Wolverine, although caution regarding expectations is advisable.

Moreover, an announcement regarding Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is also anticipated, which would be an enhanced version of the 2017 game for PS5 and PC. Recently, a listing for this remastered title appeared on the ESRB website. Other first-party titles that have been officially revealed by Sony include Lego Horizon Adventures, which is due for release later this year, and an Until Dawn remake that is set to launch on PS5 and PC on October 4. The presentation may include these titles and could even confirm the release date for the Lego-themed Horizon game.

On the third-party front, updates on titles such as Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2, action-RPG Phantom Blade Zero, and the Silent Hill 2 remake may be showcased during the event. For PS VR2 enthusiasts, there might be announcements regarding PC VR games, especially now that the headset has official support through a PS VR2 app on Steam.

The State of Play presentation will be streamed on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels, available in both English and Japanese.
