Sony has unveiled a new promotional ‘summer sale’ aimed at offering discounts on PlayStation 5 consoles across India. This limited-time promotion applies to selected PS5 slim models, reducing their prices by Rs. 5,000. The summer sale is set to commence on Thursday, April 17, and will be available until May 14 or until stocks run out.

Under this promotional offer, two PS5 slim models are eligible for discounts: the PS5 slim physical edition (CFI-2008A) and the PS5 slim digital edition (CFI-2008B). The physical edition, which features a Blu-Ray disc drive, will be offered at a sale price of Rs. 49,990, down from its regular price of Rs. 54,990. Similarly, the digital edition also sees a reduction of Rs. 5,000, bringing its price down to Rs. 39,990 from Rs. 44,990.
This summer sale is currently live through various retailers including Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Center, Vijay Sales, and others. The promotion will run until May 14 or until inventory is depleted. It is important to note that this offer does not extend to PS5 accessories, the PS VR2, or the PS Portal remote player.
In India, these PS5 discounts follow Sony’s decision to increase console prices in several key markets, including Europe, the UK, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Australia, and New Zealand, effective April 14. This price hike occurred after US President Donald Trump announced extensive tariffs on imports to the United States.
The company pointed to a “challenging economic environment,” mentioning that high inflation and variable exchange rates influenced their decision to adjust the recommended retail price of the console. Notably, prices in the US and India have not seen similar increases thus far.
The PS5 slim model is designed to be thinner and lighter than the original version, retaining the same retail pricing of Rs. 54,990 for the disc edition and Rs. 44,990 for the digital edition. The slim variant officially arrived in India on April 5, 2024, replacing the previous model of the PS5.
