The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series is poised for announcement at the company’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for July 9. Recent leaks have revealed key specifications of the anticipated smartwatches, indicating that they may be equipped with a 3nm Samsung Exynos chipset and run on One UI 8 Watch. As the launch approaches, promotional images that have surfaced online hint at a significant change, as Gemini AI is expected to take the place of Google Voice Assistant.
Gemini AI to Replace Google Voice Assistant on Galaxy Watch 8?
Roland Quandt from WinFuture recently shared two promotional images via Bluesky, showcasing the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and Galaxy Watch 8. These images suggest that the new smartwatches could debut with Gemini as their voice assistant, as one image illustrated the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic displaying the phrase “Ask Google Gemini,” resembling the current interface for Google Voice Assistant.
Samsung has not yet confirmed this potential shift. This development coincides with Google’s strategy to gradually retire its Voice Assistant. On July 14, Google announced plans to discontinue access to the “classic Google Assistant” on most mobile devices later this year, as well as remove it from app stores. Additionally, Google aims to upgrade other devices linked to smartphones, such as tablets, cars, and smartwatches, to incorporate Gemini.
According to a report from 9to5Google, it is anticipated that the Gemini AI assistant will be a feature available across the entire Galaxy Watch 8 series.

It is expected to feature a stainless steel case and a Premium Hybrid Strap, along with a 445mAh battery.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 8 is likely to be offered in two sizes: 40mm and 44mm. The 40mm variant is said to come equipped with a 1.34-inch touchscreen and a 325mAh battery, while the 44mm version may feature a larger 1.47-inch display and a 425mAh battery. Additionally, this smartwatch is expected to boast an aluminum case paired with a Silicone Sports Bracelet as a standard accessory.
