Samsung is reportedly developing the Galaxy S25 FE, expected to debut in the latter half of this year. Initial speculation suggested that the upcoming Fan Edition smartphone would feature the Exynos 2400e chipset, similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 FE. However, recently surfaced leaks indicate that the Galaxy S25 FE might come equipped with an upgraded chipset, marking a significant enhancement compared to earlier models. This new device is anticipated to serve as a more accessible variant of the Galaxy S25.

Galaxy S25 FE Could Feature MediaTek Chipset

According to a report by NoteBookCheck, which cites anonymous sources, Samsung is considering the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset for the Galaxy S25 FE. While the Exynos 2400e is reportedly the primary option for the device, the company may turn to the MediaTek alternative if production challenges arise with the Exynos chips at Samsung Foundry.

The final choice of chipset is expected to be influenced by market conditions. On paper, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 appears to outperform the Exynos 2400e. Nevertheless, Samsung is likely to prioritize its own chipset to bolster Samsung Foundry’s production capacity and to avoid the increased costs linked with sourcing the Dimensity 9400 from TSMC.

Last year’s Galaxy S24 FE employed the Exynos 2400e processor. There were earlier indications that Samsung might forgo a chipset upgrade this year by retaining the same processor in the new model. Additionally, reports suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip FE may also utilize the Exynos 2400e.

The expected launch date for the Galaxy S25 FE is predicted to be at the end of Q3 2025 or the beginning of Q4. It is likely to be a more affordable version of the Galaxy S25, which is equipped with a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy SoC.

The Galaxy S24 FE launched in September 2024, priced at Rs. 59,999 for the 8GB + 128GB configuration. It boasts a 6.7-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,340 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, supported by 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The device features a triple rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 10-megapixel front-facing camera. Powering the device is a 4,700mAh battery with capabilities for 25W wired charging.
