Samsung has announced that a selection of its flagship smartphones will now support the mobile game PUBG at an enhanced frame rate. The battle royale title, developed by Krafton, is accessible to users on both Android and iOS platforms. Previously, PUBG allowed players to experience gameplay at a maximum of 90 frames per second (fps). However, following a recent update, the game can now be played with improved frame rates. Samsung has released a list of devices that will support this upgraded experience.
In a recent community post, an official representative of Samsung overseeing game optimization confirmed that multiple devices will enable PUBG to run at 120fps. The list includes the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23 lineup, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldable smartphone.
The v3.2 update for PUBG Mobile introduces several enhancements, including new items, levels, gameplay mechanics, and modes that incorporate the support for a 120fps frame rate. The increase in frame rate contributes to a smoother gaming experience, while lower frame rates can lead to jagged and interrupted actions during gameplay.
According to Samsung’s community post, these optimizations will be part of the updated Game Optimisation Service (GOS) and Game Booster applications, which are pre-installed on the majority of Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
The announcement did not specify whether this improved support will be extended to additional Samsung models in the future. Currently, the optimized experience is confirmed for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
