Runway, a company specializing in video-oriented artificial intelligence (AI), introduced a new feature on Friday called advanced camera control. This functionality provides users with precise control over camera movements in AI-generated videos. This new capability has been integrated into the firm’s Gen-3 Alpha Turbo model, which was launched in June. It supports inputs in text, images, and videos, enabling users to determine both the direction and intensity of camera movements. The feature is accessible to all users, including both free and paid subscribers to the platform.
Runway Enhances Gen-3 Alpha Turbo with Advanced Camera Control
Despite the significant advancements made in AI video technology, achieving fine control over camera movements has been a notable challenge. While users can manipulate the style, objects, focus, and various finer details, requesting specific camera actions like panning or zooming often yields inconsistent results.
Advanced Camera Control is now available for Gen-3 Alpha Turbo. Choose both the direction and intensity of how you move through your scenes for even more intention in every shot.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Runway elaborated on the advanced camera control feature, which aims to address the issues surrounding camera movement precision. The company showcased various video examples demonstrating how users can manually guide the camera’s movement within their shots.
This feature enables users to zoom in and out on subjects or objects within the frame, allowing the camera to be adjusted horizontally, vertically, or diagonally according to specific commands. Furthermore, users can create panning shots that reveal additional context within scenes.
Another notable aspect of the advanced camera control is the ability for users to adjust the intensity of movements, opting for slow panning or faster movements to achieve desired effects. Users can also combine multiple movements to create dynamic, flowing sequences.
These advanced features are exclusive to the Gen-3 Alpha Turbo AI model, which is available to all users, both free and paid. However, free tier users will have access to a limited number of tokens to experiment with the video generation capabilities. Runway’s paid subscription plans begin at $12 (approximately Rs. 1,000) per month for each user.
