Microsoft is anticipated to confirm the release date during its participation at Gamescom 2025, which begins on August 20. The company has already announced its presence at the convention, where the Xbox booth will showcase more than 20 first and third-party games available for attendees to experience.
Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to try out the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X at Gamescom. Popular games such as Hollow Knight: Silksong, Roblox, Sea of Thieves, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will be offered at the event. Xbox’s Gamescom presentation is scheduled to begin on August 20 at 6 am PT (6:30 pm IST).

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox-branded ROG Ally handhelds will be available in Australia, France, Japan, Singapore, the UK, the US, and 21 additional markets upon release. Launch in other territories where ROG Ally products are sold is anticipated at a later stage, hinting at a potential introduction of the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X in India.
Developed in collaboration with Asus, these forthcoming handhelds mark the debut of Xbox-branded portable gaming devices. They will operate on a specialized Windows interface designed to provide a full-screen Xbox experience, addressing some common challenges faced by gaming handhelds utilizing Windows.
While the ROG Xbox Ally will not accommodate Xbox console titles, it will allow access to various third-party PC game storefronts such as Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA App. The base version, the Xbox Ally, is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z2 chipset, complemented by 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The higher-tier Xbox Ally X will feature the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage.
