The anticipated survival crafting game, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, will be available on Steam and Xbox Series S/X starting August 27, as announced by publisher North Beach Games on Wednesday. The upcoming launch will coincide with the release of The Golden Update, which introduces crossplay support across all platforms, along with new content, bug fixes, and various enhancements.

In a blog post on Wednesday, North Beach Games detailed the features included in The Golden Update. Players can now add The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria to their wishlists on both Steam and the Xbox Store.
The game is set to launch with a promotional price of $19.99, although specific pricing for the Indian market has not yet been disclosed.
The Golden Update Features
The Golden Update introduces a Sandbox Mode that allows players to explore the vast realm of Moria freely. This non-linear mode utilizes procedural generation to offer diverse game worlds, each presenting unique layouts and challenges during different playthroughs. Previously available only in beta on the Epic Games Store, this feature will now be accessible on all platforms with The Golden Update.
Crossplay functionality will also be part of the update, enabling players on PC (including both Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5, and Xbox Series S/X to host games and invite others to join their sessions. Additionally, The Golden Update will include 14 new weapons and armor pieces, as well as over 100 new building objects.
Furthermore, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will benefit from various quality-of-life enhancements, such as improved building mechanics, the option to pause the game during offline single-player sessions, an ambient music soundtrack, advanced difficulty settings, and numerous bug fixes.
Originally developed by Free Range Games, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria debuted exclusively on the Epic Games Store for PC on October 24, 2022, before expanding to PS5 on December 5, 2022.
