The Snapdragon X platform was officially introduced in India on Monday, marking the latest addition to Qualcomm’s chipset lineup. This new chipset is the fourth model in the Snapdragon X series, joining the existing Snapdragon X Elite, X Plus (10-core), and X Plus (octa-core) processors. Designed specifically for budget-friendly Copilot+ PCs priced under $600 (approximately Rs. 52,000), the Snapdragon X was initially presented at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. Like its predecessors, this platform offers impressive artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, boasting a performance threshold of 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS).
Snapdragon X CPUs Launched in India
In a press statement, Qualcomm India confirmed the rollout of its economical AI chipset targeted at PCs and laptops. The X1-26-100 model is equipped with eight Oryon CPU cores, reaching a maximum clock speed of 3GHz. Built on a 4nm processing technology, this Snapdragon X CPU is coupled with a Qualcomm Adreno GPU, delivering 1.7 tera floating-point operations per second (TFLOPS) and the capability to support up to three external displays at 4K/60Hz. Additionally, the chipset features a dedicated Hexagon neural processing unit (NPU), ensuring AI performance can reach up to 45 TOPS.
The Snapdragon X platform accommodates up to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM and provides a memory bandwidth of 135GB/s. It operates on Windows 11, integrating on-device AI functionalities common to most Copilot+ PCs. Furthermore, the chipset supports UFS 4.0 storage technology.
In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon X enables both 5G and Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, including High-Band Simultaneous (HBS) Multi-Link support. Qualcomm asserts that this chipset can achieve download speeds of up to 10Gbps. Moreover, the Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite has been incorporated to facilitate lossless audio, enhancing the listening experience with wireless headphones.
The Snapdragon X chipset also supports the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) camera, featuring functionalities such as auto-framing, background blur, and facial recognition. The optimization of this chipset is said to enhance performance significantly, contributing to extended battery life over several days.
Initially, the Snapdragon X processor will debut in the Asus Zenbook A14 and Vivobook 16 Copilot+ PCs, with starting prices beginning at Rs. 65,990. Qualcomm India has indicated that additional original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will soon launch more laptops featuring this latest chipset.
