Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro, following a series of leaks that hinted at its enhanced features. The console is slated to make its debut in select markets on November 7. Despite revealing some of the upgraded functionalities, Sony has yet to disclose comprehensive hardware specifications for the PS5 Pro. However, a new leak regarding its specifications has emerged just ahead of the launch.
Specifications Leak for PS5 Pro
Information on the PS5 Pro’s specifications appeared online over the weekend. The leaked document, which is in Portuguese, is believed to have originated from initial shipments that reached consumers in various international locations. A user on X, known as @videotechuk_, shared an image that purportedly shows the detailed specs of the upcoming console.
The leaked information indicates that the PS5 Pro is equipped with an 8-core, 16-thread AMD Ryzen Zen 2 CPU, identical to that of the original PS5. Notably, the new model boasts an upgraded RDNA graphics architecture, providing 16.7 teraflops, a significant enhancement compared to the PS5’s GPU, which features 10.28 teraflops.

The leaked specs also reveal that the PS5 Pro includes 16GB of dedicated GDDR6 VRAM, alongside an additional 2GB of DDR5 RAM allocated for system use. This configuration marks an advancement over the original PS5, which has a unified memory setup of 16GB shared between both CPU and GPU.
As previously confirmed by Sony, the PS5 Pro features double the storage capacity compared to its predecessor, boasting a 2TB custom SSD. The leak corroborates other details already acknowledged by Sony, including support for Wi-Fi 7, which facilitates quicker download speeds. The console preserves the port offerings found in the PS5, including two USB Type-C ports, a USB Type-A port, ethernet and HDMI connections, along with a slot for expandable M.2 SSD storage.

The leaked specifications also provide insights into the console’s dimensions. When the PS5 Pro was announced, Sony indicated it would be as tall as the original PS5 yet slightly taller than the PS5 Slim. The new console will share the same width as the digital edition of the PS5 Slim. According to the leak, the dimensions are approximately 388 x 89 x 216 mm, with a weight of 3.1 kg. These measurements refer to the console itself, excluding the optional external disc drive, which can be purchased separately.
While these specifications align with prior leaks and previously confirmed details, Sony has yet to reveal the full spectrum of specs for the PS5 Pro. The parent company of PlayStation asserts that the new console features 67 percent more Compute Units compared to the standard PS5, along with 28 percent faster memory performance. These enhancements are said to enable up to 45 percent faster rendering for gameplay on the PS5 Pro.
Additional features include advanced ray tracing capabilities and a new AI-powered upscaling technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). However, these improvements come at a premium price. The PlayStation 5 Pro is set to launch with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $699.99 (approximately Rs. 58,750).
