January 2024’s free games for PlayStation Plus have been officially announced, marking the start of the new year. This month’s selections feature the narrative-driven adventure game A Plague Tale: Requiem, the action RPG Nobody Saves the World, and the vampire-hunting shooter Evil West. Members subscribed to the PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/Premium tiers can access these titles starting January 2. These games will remain available for addition to your PS4 and PS5 libraries until February 5, after which continued access will require an active PS Plus subscription. Those who wish to keep playing any of the games beyond the rental period have the option to purchase them outright.

Sony shared details about the new lineup via the PlayStation Blog on Wednesday. Additionally, players of Warframe will receive the Syrinx Collection, which includes themed armor pieces, new weapons, and in-game credits. It’s worth noting that games added in December will be removed from the service on New Year’s Day, so users are encouraged to claim titles like Lego 2K Drive, Powerwash Simulator, and Sable before they leave.

The Best Games of 2023

PS Plus January 2024 – A Plague Tale: Requiem

Set six months after fleeing from the French Inquisition, siblings Hugo and Amicia embark on a journey south through vibrant landscapes, seeking a cure for Hugo’s affliction. However, as Hugo’s supernatural abilities resurface, their hopes for a peaceful life shatter, unleashing a monstrous rat plague that forces them to flee yet again. Players will navigate this perilous journey armed with a slingshot and a crossbow for stealth attacks, while also avoiding swarms of hungry rats lurking in the shadows.

A Plague Tale: Requiem, celebrated as a Game of the Year nominee in 2022, will be accessible for free on the PS5.

Nobody Saves the World

In a world threatened by the return of an ancient calamity, players assume the role of Nobody, a shape-shifting hero wielding a magic wand. Master the ability to transform into over 15 unique forms—including a magician, ghost, dragon, mobile egg, and turtle—solving intricate puzzles in diverse environments. Players will explore procedurally generated dungeons, combining the unique abilities of each form to execute powerful combos. The game also features co-op play, allowing friends to join in on the whimsical adventures.

Nobody Saves the World is available on both PS4 and PS5.

Evil West

Step into the shoes of Jesse Rentier, an agent of a vampire-hunting organization tasked with defending the American frontier against supernatural threats. Utilize a variety of weapons, lightning gauntlets, and unique gadgets to battle hordes of vampires and monsters. The gameplay emphasizes a mission-based structure, culminating in cinematic boss encounters, ideal for those seeking an action-packed experience filled with gory combat.

Evil West supports online co-op and is available on both PS4 and PS5.

Earlier this month, PlayStation also outlined the new titles coming to its December Game Catalog, available for PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium subscribers, with highlights including Grand Theft Auto V and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.

In India, PlayStation Plus subscriptions start at Rs. 499 per month for the Essential plan, Rs. 749 per month for Extra, and Rs. 849 per month for the Deluxe tier. The monthly free games are part of all three subscription levels.
