CD Projekt Red has announced that players will have the opportunity to experience Cyberpunk 2077 for free during a limited trial this weekend. The renowned title will be accessible at no charge for a select period on the latest consoles from Microsoft and Sony; however, PC users will not be included in this offer. Participants will need to download the complete base game to take part in the trial, with the Phantom Liberty expansion not being available.
The trial is set to commence on March 28 at 4 PM CET (8 PM IST) and will conclude on April 1 at 8:59 AM CEST (12:29 PM IST). PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S players will have a total of five hours to explore the game. CD Projekt Red cited “technical reasons” for the exclusion of PC gamers from this promotional event.
Players should note that gameplay will be restricted to the five-hour window, after which they will need to purchase the game to continue their journey. Importantly, any progress made during the trial will carry over if players decide to acquire Cyberpunk 2077 afterward.
The five-hour gameplay limit raises some concerns, particularly as it will include various cutscenes and dialogues that may consume a significant portion of the available time. Additionally, individuals who already own the base game will be unable to access the Phantom Liberty expansion, which is also unavailable during the trial.
To participate in this trial, players must download the entire game, which requires approximately 99.3GB on PlayStation 5 and around 103GB on Xbox consoles. No subscription—such as Game Pass—is necessary to take part in this offer. Furthermore, multiple users can experiment with the game on a single console, provided they have their own user accounts.
