Perplexity AI has launched two new features aimed at enhancing the functionality of its artificial intelligence (AI) search platform. Announced last week, the new capabilities include Internal Knowledge Search and Spaces. The Internal Knowledge Search feature enables users to query prompts and receive answers derived from an internal knowledge base, while Spaces serves as a collaboration tool allowing users to invite others to join their search projects. Both features are currently accessible to paid subscribers, including those using Perplexity Pro and Perplexity Enterprise Pro.
Perplexity AI Unveils New Functionalities
In a recent blog post, Perplexity AI detailed its new offerings. The Internal Knowledge Search enables users to obtain responses from their own uploaded knowledge base. Previously, users could upload files for inquiry responses, but this upgraded feature now combines information from uploaded files with results from public web searches.
This enhancement allows users to define the scope of the responses they require and effortlessly gather additional information in a user-friendly format. The company noted that this feature was in high demand among users.
The design appears particularly beneficial for enterprise customers. Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas remarked, “Searching the web in the context of what’s relevant to a particular business has never been possible before. Being able to carry out all your research — across both internal and external sources of data — in one consolidated knowledge platform will unlock tremendous productivity gains for every enterprise.”
The second feature, Perplexity Spaces, promotes collaborative research and information organization among users. Individuals with access to this feature can create a Space and invite collaborators, including colleagues or friends, to contribute internal files. Users can also choose a specific AI model and provide tailored instructions on how the AI should respond to inquiries.
Regarding privacy and security, the company assured users that Perplexity would provide a secure environment for research, alleviating concerns about data breaches. However, the announcement did not clarify whether user data curated in Spaces would be utilized to train AI models.
Perplexity also indicated plans to introduce third-party data integration, enabling Enterprise Pro subscribers to incorporate data from platforms like Crunchbase and FactSet. Users who maintain active subscriptions to these services will be able to merge this information with their internal knowledge bases.
