The latest entrant in the smartphone market, the Find X8 Ultra, has gone through our review process, but it brings disappointing news for Indian consumers: it won’t be available in India. This model succeeds the Find X7 Ultra, which also didn’t launch in the region. Consequently, the Find X8 Pro and Find X8 will continue to serve as the premium offerings for Oppo users in India. So, how does the X8 Ultra compare to its counterparts available here? Quite a bit, it turns out.
The Find X8 Ultra comes equipped with a higher resolution display than the X8 Pro and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, in contrast to the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 used in the X8 Pro. Notably, it features a primary 1-inch sensor that the X8 Pro lacks. Further enhancing its appeal are quicker wired charging capabilities and a larger battery. On paper, the X8 Ultra appears to be a formidable competitor against flagship devices like the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15 Ultra. If you’re keen on learning more about the X8 Ultra, continue reading my review.
Oppo claims that the Find X8 Ultra is the slimmest camera flagship at 8.78mm.
Design and Display: Aesthetic Appeal Meets Quality Visuals
- Dimensions: 163.09×76.80×8.78mm
- Weight: 226 grams
- Display: 6.82-inch ProXDR AMOLED, peak brightness of 2500nits
- IP68 and IP69 rating
The Find X8 Ultra presents a fresh design for Oppo’s Ultra series. While the Find X7 Ultra showcased a distinct dual-tone finish, the new iteration opts for a more subdued aesthetic, aligning closely with the designs of the X8 Pro and X8 models. The rear camera module boasts an impressive ‘Ultra’ design featuring four 50-megapixel sensors along with a True Chroma multispectral system that will be discussed in the camera section.
The phone is available in Matte Black, Pure White, and Shell Pink.
Oppo is positioning the Find X8 Ultra as the thinnest camera smartphone available, measuring just 8.78mm, a significant reduction from the Find X7 Ultra’s 9.5mm and Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s 9.48mm. This achievement is credited to a re-engineering of the internal components, resulting in a well-distributed 226 grams of weight that feels comfortable during use. The flat design aligns with contemporary flagship trends, while contoured edges and a matte glass back provide an excellent tactile experience.
The phone features a camera module dubbed the “Cosmos Ring,” where the cameras are neatly arranged, complemented by Hasselblad branding that signifies a partnership with the legendary camera manufacturer. Attention to detail is evident, highlighted by an orange dot to signify imaging capabilities and a subtle homage to Hasselblad’s shutter button.
The camera housing on the Find X8 Ultra carries Hasselblad branding.
Oppo has introduced additional physical buttons with the Find X8 Ultra, including a Shortcut Button and a Quick Button. The Quick Button allows users to access the camera functionality directly via double-tap and perform actions through swiping and long-pressing. The Shortcut Button serves a dual purpose, enabling sound and vibration mode changes or being customized for flashlight activation, voice recording, or screenshot capturing.
Featuring a glass sandwich design, the phone’s rear is resistant to fingerprints, with Oppo claiming the use of Corning Gorilla Glass on both sides. Additionally, it boasts SGS Five-Star drop resistance certification, allowing worry-free usage without a protective case. Like many flagship Android devices, the Find X8 Ultra also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
The device features a 6.82-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.
The Find X8 Ultra is offered in Matte Black, Pure White, and Shell Pink. The reviewer received the Shell Pink variant, which, despite initial reservations about the color choice, presented a refined and classy appearance. The matte finish and muted color scheme contribute to its understated allure. The device also integrates an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that functions quite efficiently.
On the display front, the Find X8 Ultra includes a 6.82-inch AMOLED LTPO screen, featuring a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 1440×3168 pixel resolution, 510 PPI pixel density, and up to 2160Hz PWM dimming. It supports Dolby Vision and reaches a peak brightness of 2500 nits. Overall, the performance of the display holds up to flagship standards, with a slight drawback being the peak brightness which could ideally be at least 3000 nits since both the Find X8 Pro and Find X7 Ultra offer higher peak brightness levels of 4500 nits.
Peak brightness is capped at 1600 nits, which falls short of some competitors.
The display on the Find X8 Ultra is impressive for multimedia consumption and gaming, delivering vivid colors and adequate brightness even in outdoor conditions. It supports Widevine L1, allowing users to enjoy HDR content on streaming platforms. While the display’s specifications are typically flagship-worthy, an increase in peak brightness would have provided an enhanced viewing experience.

In our HD video loop battery test, the Find X8 Ultra outperformed expectations, lasting approximately 23 hours and 35 minutes, setting a new benchmark in battery longevity.
Final Thoughts on the Find X8 Ultra
The Find X8 Ultra is a remarkable smartphone from Oppo, but its unavailability in the Indian market is disappointing. Equipped with a 1-inch sensor, it stands out in the competitive landscape of camera phones. With the Find X8 Pro missing this feature, introducing the Ultra model in India—even as a limited edition—would have attracted significant interest from photography enthusiasts despite its premium pricing.
The Find X8 Ultra includes dedicated physical buttons for quick access to features.
The device successfully combines a sleek design, high-quality display, reliable performance, and battery longevity, with its camera being the standout attribute. The thoughtful reduction in weight without sacrificing the size of the 1-inch sensor offers a user-friendly experience. The addition of dedicated buttons enhances accessibility for users looking for quick access to particular features without navigating through complex menus.
For Indian consumers still searching for an exceptional camera-centric smartphone, alternatives like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra or the Vivo X200 Pro are viable options. Those with a higher budget might consider the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, which, while not exclusively a camera phone, offers an excellent overall package.
