Last year’s OnePlus Nord CE 4 established itself as a noteworthy competitor in the mid-range smartphone market. However, it faced criticism for its camera performance, particularly in low-light conditions, according to our previous analysis. Now, a year later, anticipation builds for the release of its successor, the Nord CE 5. Recent leaks have already hinted at impressive battery features, and now additional information has emerged regarding the device’s hardware specifications. While there are several adjustments, most focus on enhancing performance.
According to SmartPrix, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 is set to debut in May in India. Though the source has yet to provide any images of the device, it indicates that the Nord CE 5 will introduce some design modifications. Notably, the phone is expected to have a single speaker, a departure from the Nord CE 4’s stereo speaker setup. Additionally, it is rumored to sport a 6.7-inch flat OLED display with a resolution of 1080p, which aligns closely with its predecessor.
The upcoming OnePlus Nord CE 5 reportedly marks a shift from Qualcomm processors to MediaTek chipsets. The device is said to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor (4nm), with options for 8GB of RAM and a 256GB storage capacity. There is also mention of a hybrid SIM card tray, accommodating either two SIM cards or one SIM card alongside a microSD card.
Regarding the camera setup, little has changed compared to the Nord CE 4. The specifications are believed to mirror those of the previous model, featuring a 50-megapixel primary camera from Sony (LYT600/IMX882) and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, also manufactured by Sony (IMX355). A 16-megapixel front-facing camera is anticipated for selfies.
