Anticipation continues to build for the OnePlus 15, expected to debut later this year. In the meantime, new information regarding the camera features of the upcoming smartphone has surfaced online, hinting at a potential launch during the fourth quarter of this year. Reports suggest that the OnePlus 15 may maintain the same triple rear camera configuration seen in its predecessor, the OnePlus 13, which includes an advanced telephoto periscope lens. Additionally, the device is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the rear camera specifications for the OnePlus 15 remain in flux. Currently, the brand is said to be evaluating a prototype featuring a triple rear camera arrangement that includes a primary 50-megapixel camera, a 50-megapixel secondary sensor, and a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor capable of 3x optical zoom.
There are discussions within OnePlus about implementing both a large sensor and an ultra-large sensor for the primary camera. For the telephoto lens, the company is believed to be experimenting with small and medium-sized sensor options. All these configurations are currently undergoing A/B testing.
For context, the OnePlus 13 is equipped with a Hasselblad-branded triple rear camera array featuring a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-808 primary sensor, a 50-megapixel S5KJN5 ultra-wide camera, and a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 periscope telephoto camera, also with 3x optical zoom capabilities. The front camera boasts a 32-megapixel Sony IMX615 sensor for selfies.
Earlier this week, the same source indicated that the OnePlus 15 will sport a 6.78-inch flat LTPO display with a resolution of 1.5K. It is expected to adopt an iPhone-inspired design and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. The device is projected to be officially launched in China in October or November, with a global release anticipated in January 2026.
