Notion has officially launched its AI-enhanced tool, the Notion Agent, during a significant update rollout known as Notion 3.0. This release, which occurred on Thursday, showcases the company’s latest advances in artificial intelligence, presenting the agent as a “teammate and Notion super user” capable of replicating all user functionalities within the platform.
Previously, users created pages and databases manually, but the new agent is designed to automate this process. It can explore information not only within the Notion environment but also in external tools such as Slack and across the internet. Notion claims that the agent is capable of executing plans autonomously for up to “20 minutes” and can manage tasks over numerous pages simultaneously, according to the company’s press release.
The agent can also retain user preferences, remembering how individuals like to organize content and where to store specific files. This information is kept in the user’s profile and can be adjusted later. Additionally, users currently have the ability to customize their agent under various profiles, although fully automated and tailored agents are set to be introduced in the future.
Potential applications for these AI agents include developing and refining email campaigns, aggregating and analyzing user feedback from various platforms into cohesive reports, and synthesizing meeting notes into emails and proposals.
Cofounder Akshay Kothari had hinted at the functionality of these agents in August and September. He demonstrated how the agent could create a tracker for the cafes he visited and compile a database of movies to watch based on Rotten Tomatoes ratings.
