On Thursday, Nothing unveiled a new operating system update for its flagship device, the Nothing Phone 2. This update is expected to introduce several new features along with enhancements to performance and stability. A key feature is the new Privacy Space, designed to function as a secure digital safe that allows users to protect sensitive applications and information.
Additionally, the update debuts the Nothing Gallery app, providing an alternative to Google Photos for media management on the Nothing Phone 2. This release is accompanied by improvements intended to boost overall device performance and reliability.

- Click on System Updates and select Download and Install

In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Nothing revealed the rollout of the new Nothing OS update for the Phone 2. This update enables the Privacy Space feature, allowing users to conceal and secure applications related to banking, finance, dating, and social media, along with confidential data, from prying eyes.

This feature can be activated by swiping right in the app drawer and using a password different from the App Locker, effectively hiding it from view. Privacy Space is built on the Private Space feature that Google introduced with Android 15. Although the Nothing Phone 2 received the Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.0 update in December 2024, this particular feature was absent at that time.
The latest Nothing OS update also introduces the native Nothing Gallery app, which offers functionalities such as advanced search and enhanced editing tools, including filters, markup, and suggestions. Users can also find a touch feedback toggle in the Settings, enabling them to disable the lock screen’s face unlock vibration.
This update encompasses not only new features but also performance and stability upgrades. Optimizations have been made to launcher animations to facilitate quicker app launches. Additionally, the update improves cellular network stability and enhances Wi-Fi and overall system reliability for better connectivity. Nothing also claims that it has improved accessibility features for both the Status Bar and Notification Centre.
