This month saw the launch of Nothing Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro, introducing an innovative AI-powered hub named Essential Space. The UK-based technology startup has announced a new feature for this hub, called Camera Capture. This addition enables users to swiftly take photos with their smartphone camera, with the capability to extract key information through optical character recognition. Nothing has indicated that more features will be integrated into Essential Space in the forthcoming months.
Camera Capture Feature Arrives in Essential Space through Play Store Update
On Wednesday, the company revealed that it has initiated the rollout of an update for Essential Space. The Camera Capture feature enables users to utilize the Essential Key located on the side of the Nothing Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro while in the camera app for capturing vital information.

Additionally, Nothing clarified that images captured using the Camera Capture feature will not be saved alongside regular photos in the gallery app. Instead, these images will be securely stored within the Essential Space.
Camera Capture is just one of several enhancements that will soon be available for Essential Space on the Nothing Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro. Additional features, including Flip to Record, Focused Search, and Smart Collections, are set to be introduced in the coming months.
According to Gadgets 360, the Essential Space update is live on the Google Play Store, with the feature functioning successfully following the app update. To access Camera Capture, users must be operating on Nothing OS 3.1.
The update for Nothing OS 3.1 is being distributed in phases; our review unit was already equipped with this latest software version. To check if the update is available for your device, navigate to the Settings app and select System > System Updates. This update also brings various enhancements to the camera capabilities and the always-on display (AOD) feature on the smartphones.
