Mivi, a consumer technology brand based in Hyderabad, introduced Mivi AI, an innovative voice-based artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, during a presentation on Friday. The company indicated that Mivi AI is still being refined but will be available to users in the near future. Additionally, it hinted at the launch of AIBuds, which are expected to be the first earbuds featuring Mivi AI capabilities. The AI chatbot is equipped with pre-defined custom avatars, each tailored for distinct functions. Notably, Mivi AI also incorporates a Memory feature that allows it to retain specific information about users.

On its website, Mivi provided a detailed overview of Mivi AI and its functionalities. A demo video was shared, showcasing the capabilities of the new AI system. Mivi AI facilitates two-way, voice-driven interactions, enabling users to engage in real-time conversations. The brand has emphasized its commitment to crafting what it describes as “human-like AI,” claiming that the chatbot can mimic natural speech patterns, including intonation, pitch, and pauses.
The Memory feature personalizes the interactions, utilizing elements familiar to users of prominent AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. By remembering details from past conversations, Mivi AI can customize its responses to users. Users can choose from five distinct pre-built avatars: chef, guru, interviewer, news reporter, and wellness coach.
Each avatar is designed with unique characteristics and, combined with the Memory feature, enhances the tailored interaction with users. For example, the chef avatar can adjust recipes based on an individual’s spice preferences, while the news reporter avatar can customize news updates according to the user’s geographical location. Additionally, the company noted that users can engage in simultaneous conversations with multiple avatars, returning to any of them at their convenience.
The company has not specified whether it developed a proprietary AI model or employed an existing third-party model for this feature. However, it did confirm that Mivi AI has been trained in-house using “thousands of voice samples across diverse accents, tones, and real-world conditions.”
Mivi AI is expected to launch alongside the AI Buds, which will incorporate a specialized chipset that enables real-time processing while enhancing energy efficiency. It is important to note that the Mivi AI will not operate directly on the device; users must connect to the cloud for data processing after activating the chatbot using the phrase “hi Mivi.”
The company has yet to divulge several details regarding this AI chatbot. It remains uncertain whether a companion app will be necessary for linking the earbuds to the cloud, if a text-based interface will be available, or if access to Mivi AI will come at a subscription fee. Furthermore, Mivi has not disclosed the origin of the dataset used to train the AI model backing the chatbot.
