Microsoft has initiated internal testing of its Copilot for Gaming, a newly developed artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot designed for Xbox users. Current reports indicate that this AI application is being tested exclusively among the company’s employees. The initiative was first unveiled by the Redmond-based tech company in March, where they highlighted some of its potential features. Following the completion of this testing phase, the company aims to engage a broader audience by introducing the AI chatbot to Windows Insiders.
Copilot for Gaming Enters Testing Phase
According to Technology News, Microsoft employees now have access to the Copilot for Gaming AI assistant, allowing them to explore its functionalities. Sources familiar with the development report that an early version of this feature is being tested within the Xbox mobile app. The AI assistant is capable of accessing users’ Xbox accounts and responding to inquiries based on individual user data.
This preliminary version of Copilot is equipped with various features, enabling users to inquire about their Xbox achievements, receive game recommendations, and seek help in navigating game levels. Furthermore, the AI assistant can download and install games on the Xbox console in response to natural language requests.
The testing version supports both text and voice inputs. The chatbot is also able to reply in spoken language, offering a selection of voice styles such as energetic, wise, chill, and heroic. Although Microsoft is exploring the addition of animated Copilot characters for future interactions, this element is not included in the current employee testing iteration.
Additonally, Microsoft is working on integrating Copilot Vision, a function that would allow the AI assistant to interpret visual information displayed on the screen while users engage with games, thereby providing real-time in-game support. Ultimately, the company intends to make Copilot for Gaming accessible across various platforms, including the Xbox console.
