Microsoft has begun the broader rollout of its Gaming Copilot feature for Windows 11 users, following an initial testing phase that commenced last month. While the early preview was restricted to select markets, the company announced that the feature will now be available globally, except for mainland China. Additionally, Gaming Copilot is set to debut in the Xbox mobile app next month.
“Beginning today, gamers on PC will start seeing the Gaming Copilot directly within their Game Bar, with a gradual rollout over the upcoming weeks,” stated Taylor O’Malley, principal program manager at Xbox. “Next month, it will also be available on the Xbox mobile app for both Apple and Android devices, enabling players to utilize this personalized assistant on a second screen without interrupting their gameplay.”
This Gaming Copilot feature will be integrated as a widget in the Game Bar for Windows 11, equipped with a voice mode that allows users to interact with the AI assistant without the need to pause their game. The AI will utilize game screenshots to provide contextual answers, enabling players to inquire about specific in-game challenges or bosses without needing to elaborate verbally.
Users can also leverage the Gaming Copilot to receive personalized game suggestions, review recent achievements on Xbox, and more. Microsoft is looking to enhance the Gaming Copilot for future Xbox portable devices and has stated plans to transition this AI-powered feature to Xbox consoles soon.
In the long run, Microsoft envisions the Gaming Copilot evolving into an AI-driven gaming mentor. Initially positioned as a helpful companion, the feature aims to assist players throughout their gaming journeys, offering tips and strategies. The company has previously showcased the Gaming Copilot’s potential in games like Overwatch 2, providing recommendations for character selections that would complement team dynamics.
