Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has introduced a new feature for Facebook Gaming that enables users to engage in their favorite games during video calls on Messenger. This functionality is now accessible on Messenger for iOS, Android, and the Web, allowing users to play without any need for additional app installation. Currently, there are 14 free-to-play games available, including popular titles such as Words With Friends, Mini Golf FRVR, Card Wars, and Exploding Kittens.
A recent blog post by Facebook highlighted this new capability, which allows for multiplayer gaming during video calls with friends and family. Users can easily access these games on the Messenger app across various platforms. Notably, the gameplay experience does not require the installation of any additional apps.
The games offered include popular options like Card Wars by Bombay Play, Exploding Kittens by Coatsink, Mini Golf FRVR by FRVR, and Words With Friends by Zynga. Each game accommodates a different number of players, with most designed for two participants.
To start playing, users must initiate a video call on Messenger, then click the group mode icon located centrally in the interface. From there, they can select the “Play” icon, browse through the available games, and choose the one they’d like to enjoy.
In related news, Meta was reported to be testing the reinstatement of Messenger chat access through the Facebook app, a feature that was removed in 2014 when Messenger became a standalone application. The company is exploring ways for users to share content via messages on Facebook without needing to switch between applications.
