Meta Launches Verified Services in India!

On June 7, Meta announced the introduction of its verification service in India, allowing users to obtain verified badges for their Facebook and Instagram accounts. The service, called Meta Verified, will enable users to subscribe and receive a blue tick along with additional features. The verification can be accessed for a monthly fee of Rs. 699 through the iOS and Android apps for both platforms. A web-based subscription option at Rs. 599 per month is anticipated to launch in the months ahead.

Meta Verified aims to streamline the verification process by utilizing government-issued identification. Verified users will benefit from enhanced account protection and direct support services, among other perks.

Steps to Obtain Verification on Instagram and Facebook in India

1. Launch the Instagram or Facebook app on your Android or iOS device.
2. Navigate to the profile you wish to verify.
3. Access Settings > Accounts Center.
4. Click on the Meta Verified option. If it does not appear, updates to your app may be necessary.
5. Choose your desired payment method.
6. Follow the provided instructions to verify your identity using a government ID.
7. After successful authentication, a verified badge will be added to your account.

Eligibility Criteria for Verification on Instagram and Facebook in India

To qualify for Meta Verified in India, users must be at least 18 years old. The company may assess the user’s previous posting history as part of its verification process. Additionally, an official government ID must be provided, with the name and photograph on the ID matching the user’s profile details on Instagram or Facebook.

Public figures, celebrities, content creators, and brands can also submit applications for the verified badge if they meet the necessary account criteria and eligibility requirements.

Currently, Meta Verified is accessible only in select countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and now India.
