Sony revealed on Friday that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be making its way to PC next year. Originally launched exclusively for PlayStation 5 in 2023, the action-adventure title is set to debut on PC through Steam and Epic Games Store on January 30, 2025. This follows Sony’s trend of releasing its exclusive titles for PC roughly a year after their initial console launch. The game continues the storyline from 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Miles Morales, both of which are already available on PC.
Spider-Man 2 Set for PC Release
The announcement regarding the PC version was made during New York Comic Con. Insomniac Games, the developer behind the title, has entrusted the port to Nixxes Software, a studio known for its work on previous Spider-Man PC adaptations and a range of other PlayStation exclusives.
The PC edition will feature numerous enhancements tailored to the platform. Nixxes indicated that they would provide a comprehensive list of updated features and system requirements closer to the launch date. “We are thrilled to continue this collaboration and bring Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to PC equipped with a suite of enhanced features, including improved ray-tracing options, to fully leverage a wide variety of setups,” stated Nixxes in a PlayStation Blog post announcing the game’s PC port.
Mike Fitzgerald, Core Technology Director at Insomniac, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “Our exceptional partners at Nixxes have once again done a remarkable job of adapting the Marvel’s Spider-Man world for PC players. Our team infused a lot of passion into this game, and we are excited for it to reach a new audience with keyboard and mouse controls, ultra widescreen support, and a variety of graphical settings that will make it feel at home on their platform.”
The PC iteration will include all updates released post-launch, although Insomniac confirmed no additional story content is planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
PC Editions of Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be offered in two formats on PC: the Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition. The Standard Edition comprises the full game along with the latest updates, which include 12 new suits, a New Game+ mode, Ultimate level challenges, new Symbiote suit styles, time-of-day customization, post-game achievements, an action figure mode in photo mode, and accessibility enhancements such as a screen reader and audio descriptions.
The Digital Deluxe Edition will feature the complete game and all the updates from the Standard Edition, in addition to five exclusive suits each for Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Early access will be granted to the Arachknight suit (for Peter), the Shadow-Spider suit (for Miles), and the Web Grabber gadget, along with five extra skill points and additional items for photo mode.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 made its initial debut on PS5 on October 20, 2023, weaving a narrative that follows both Spider-Men, Peter and Miles, as they join forces to confront a new peril facing New York City. The game showcases an expanded open world, encompassing two new boroughs, enhanced traversal options, and a range of legendary Spider-Man villains. Players can now add Spider-Man 2 to their wishlists on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
