Plaion has officially announced its publishing partnership with developer Skydance New Media for the anticipated action-adventure game, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. Featuring iconic Marvel characters such as Captain America and Black Panther, the game is set to be released globally in 2025. This announcement follows the game’s reveal at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) during Epic Games’ State of Unreal event earlier this year.

The project is led by Amy Hennig, a seasoned game developer renowned for her contributions to the Legacy of Kain and Uncharted franchises. While a specific release date is yet to be determined, the game is slated for launch next year.

Julian Beak, co-president at Skydance New Media, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We believe Plaion is the perfect publishing partner for the multiplatform, worldwide release of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. For our studio’s debut title, we’re crafting an original Marvel story directed by Amy Hennig. We’re thrilled to have found a global publisher that shares our ambitious vision for the project.”
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will feature a robust narrative-driven experience, allowing players to take on the roles of four distinct characters: Captain America, Azzuri—the Black Panther of the 1940s, Gabriel Jones from the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy operating in Occupied Paris. The game will center on the alliance between Captain America and Black Panther as they battle the Hydra organization during World War II.
The title was initially unveiled with a story-driven cinematic trailer at GDC in March, which, while not showcasing actual gameplay, provided insights into the stealth and action elements of the game, as well as the rich backgrounds of its superhero protagonists. Moreover, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is confirmed to utilize Unreal Engine 5 to enhance its visual experience.
