LinkedIn has introduced an innovative artificial intelligence (AI) feature aimed at simplifying the job search process for users. Initially rolled out in the United States earlier this month, the professional networking site, headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, is now expanding its AI job search tool to a global audience, including users in India. This AI functionality allows professionals to input their desired job roles using natural language queries, enabling them to discover relevant positions easily. However, this feature will be exclusively available to LinkedIn Premium subscribers.
In a recent press release, LinkedIn elaborated on the benefits of the new AI feature for job seekers. The company cited a survey indicating that 60 percent of professionals in Bengaluru face challenges in identifying job titles and industries, even when actively seeking new opportunities.
The survey findings also revealed that a key measure of career advancement for professionals is securing a position that aligns with their skills and aspirations. Acknowledging this issue, LinkedIn has developed an AI-driven tool designed to facilitate the search for ideal job openings.
This new AI-enhanced job search experience allows users to articulate their desired roles in straightforward language. For example, a software engineer in the early stages of their career might input, “full-stack software developer jobs in Bengaluru that are hybrid or remote,” prompting the AI tool to deliver search results that align with these specific criteria.
LinkedIn asserts that this advanced job search mechanism diminishes reliance on traditional keyword searches, which often fail to capture the full context of user inquiries and frequently yield irrelevant listings. Additionally, it alleviates the tedious process of manual filtering through numerous pages to pinpoint preferred vacancies. “The AI-powered job search aims to enhance the relevance of job discovery, empowering users to make informed career decisions,” the company stated.
At present, the AI job search feature is accessible solely to LinkedIn Premium subscribers, with the subscription priced at Rs. 499 per month. This plan includes additional perks such as AI tools for interview preparation and career planning.
