On Thursday, Instagram unveiled a series of exciting new features designed to empower artists and creators in their self-expression. The platform, owned by Meta, is currently testing a feature that allows users to reorganize their feeds, granting them greater control over the visibility of their content. Additionally, users will soon have the option to share media without it being visible to all followers. Instagram also revealed a feature that lets users share songs they are currently playing on Spotify through Notes, along with a collaboration with Catalan pop artist Rosalia that introduces a new font inspired by her handwriting for Stories and Reels.
New Features on Instagram
In a recent blog post, Instagram elaborated on these innovations. Among the most notable updates is the testing of a feature that allows users to post content quietly on their profiles, ensuring that these posts do not appear in the feeds of all followers. This initiative aims to reduce pressure on users when showcasing their creative work. Furthermore, Instagram noted that users will gain the ability to rearrange how their content appears in their feeds, enhancing personalization.
The platform is also expanding its Trial Reels feature to all users. Introduced in December 2024, this tool facilitates creators’ exploration beyond their typical genres, topics, or storytelling formats. Notably, Trial Reels are visible only to non-followers and provide essential performance metrics such as views, likes, comments, and shares after 24 hours.
According to the company, 40 percent of creators who engaged with Trial Reels began posting content more frequently, and an impressive 80 percent experienced an increase in their reach to non-followers.
In addition, Instagram has rolled out a new feature within Notes, allowing users to share their current Spotify tracks. The aim is to foster connections among friends through music. Lastly, users will have access to a fresh font for their Stories and Reels, inspired by the unique handwriting of singer Rosalia.
Instagram is also launching an initiative called Drafts to support emerging artists and creators. This program will offer financial backing, networking opportunities, and collaboration resources to young talents, such as Tyrell Hampton, Young Emperors, Sailorr, and Jake Fleming, facilitating the realization of their creative projects.
